Note: Most of the major job search engines offer a service known as “Job Search Agents”. This is an automated piece of software that automatically searches the Web site for jobs that match any keywords you specify. When a job becomes available and it matches your search terms, then the Search Agent e-mails the job or jobs to your e-mail address. Each Web site is a little different from the next, but they all work under the same general principle and they are all free services. This approach will maximize your job-search efforts.
Other Resources
Applying For Government Jobs (PDF) -- Publication by Arizona Dept. of Commerce, Research Administration. Gives tips and resources for applying for federal, state and local government jobs in Arizona.
Employer Database -- Many jobs are not advertised or posted on job banks. These jobs are often filled through networking contacts or referrals. How can a job seeker tap into the “hidden job market?” A good start is to contact all the people you know and ask them to help you network in the job market to find job leads. In addition to the people you know, use the employer database to search for employer contacts. Using the employer database, you can search for employers by occupation and industry. You can then contact employers and find out if they have openings for your occupation, or if they know of other companies that may need employees to fill openings. While this may be a time-consuming effort, it will pay off greatly if you can find job openings before they get posted or advertised. Click on this link to the Find Employers Tool and use the drill-down menus for the geographic areas, occupations, and industries applicable to you.
